Like many local legends, Clearman's Restaurants was conceived
on dreams, and fostered by a strong entrepreneurial spirit.
During World War II, young John Clearman strove to make
a unique mark in his local community. The brainchild of
his ambition was born during the post-war industrial boom.
Clearman's Steak 'N Stein Inn in Pico Rivera, established
in 1946, garnered immediate celebrity and a loyal patronage.
This first of Clearman's restaurants fulfilled his goal
of providing diners with a satisfying, quality experience
in a unique atmosphere. The Restaurant would continue
to expand through the succeeding four decades, with the
creation of the historic Clearman's North Woods Inns and
Clearman's Galley. Based upon the foundation values of
quality, comfort, and unique style, these restaurants
establish the Clearman's tradition, which today stands
as a landmark in Los Angeles County.

The flagship of the Clearman's tradition, Clearman's
Steak 'N Stein Inn is conveniently located off of the
605 freeway on Whittier Boulevard, in Pico Rivera. With
its welcoming lounge, which features a circular fireplace,
rich red leathers, dark wood and brick interior, to its
hearty steak and seafood dinners, Steak 'N Stein's intimate
atmosphere instills in diners a strong sense of comfort
and satisfaction. Thick, tender filet mignon is one highlight
of a varied menu emphasizing a bounty of savory foods.
There is no scrimping on flavor, portions, or service!

with friends and family, or an intimate dinner for two,
Steak 'N Stein Inn will help you to create a truly memorable
experience.

The
historic inns of the north woods offered food and drink
to replenish the weary traveler. The North Woods Inns
were designed with this spirit of hospitality in mind.
Under a 'snow-covered' roof, diners are transported back
a century to the warmth and welcome of a rustic log cabin,
with tiffany-style lamps, fine, gilt-framed paintings,
wood shavings on the floors, and artifacts reminiscent
of a legendary era.
In 1966, the North Woods Inn of San Gabriel, located at
the corner of Rosemead Boulevard and Huntington Drive,
opened its doors, followed in 1967 by the North Woods
Inn of Covina, on Azusa Avenue. The newest addition to
the Clearman's family, the North Woods Inn of La Mirada,
on Firestone Boulevard, opened its doors in 1989. All
the North Woods Inns offer a full bar and the same excellent
food and service which have made them famous. Join us
at the North Woods for family dining in a relaxed, but
festive, atmosphere.
Clearman's
Galley ("The Boat") began its colorful career
in 1913, when it was launched as a mail service vessel
between San Francisco and
Alaska. John Clearman purchased the boat as a personal-use
craft out of Long Beach, and in 1968, moved his boat
to its current location at the corner of Rosemead Boulevard
and Huntington Drive, in San Gabriel. The Galley, so
named for the galley-style kitchen service, began as
a hamburger stand, with walk-up service and patio seating.
In 1970, a structure was added for indoor seating, and
this has since been enlarged to include big screens
for television and sporting events. This unique and
historic restaurant has garnered a huge following among
local regulars, sports enthusiasts, and all lovers of
good food and fun.
